About the event

On July 4, 2026, the United States of America will commemorate 250 years of independence—and here in Charleston, we’re not just celebrating history… we’re standing on it. South Carolina played a defining role in the American Revolution, with more battles fought on its soil than any other colony.

The Charleston area alone witnessed bold acts of resistance, critical turning points, and stories of everyday patriots whose bravery helped shape a nation. As part of the nationwide America250 celebration, the Friends of Charleston National Parks invites you to explore, learn, and reflect on the Lowcountry’s revolutionary legacy.
