FCNP 2025 PHOTO CONTEST

Entrants are encouraged to showcase the unique essence, historical significance, and natural beauty of Fort Moultrie and its surrounding grounds.

ABOUT THE CONTEST

The Friends of Charleston National Parks (FCNP) invite photography enthusiasts to capture the rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant spirit of Fort Moultrie through their lenses. This annual contest celebrates creativity and storytelling while spotlighting the treasured landmarks of our national parks. Open to amateur and professional photographers alike, the competition seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for Fort Moultrie's cultural and historical significance.

Contest Period

  • Submission Window: June 15 – September 30, 2025

  • Eligibility: Photos must be submitted during the entry window; images may be taken at any time.

Submission Guidelines

  • Number of Entries: Up to three (3) photos per participant.

  • File Formats Accepted: JPEG, PNG, TIFF.

  • Photo Dimensions:

    • Landscape oriented.

    • Minimum of 300 DPI

    • Jpg, tiff, or bitmap file format

  • File Size Limit: 40 megapixels maximum.

  • Narrative: A brief statement about the artistic interpretation of the image (submitted via online form).

  • Panoramic photos are not eligible for Grand Prize consideration.

  • High-resolution images are required for submission.

  • Note: Images may be cropped to fit the proportions of the park pass. The dimensions are similar to that of a credit card.

Photo Requirements

       Subject Matter

  • Photos must prominently feature Fort Moultrie’s natural or cultural features, its structures, or its surrounding grounds within site boundaries

    Permissions and Authorship

  • Participants must have all necessary permissions for recognizable individuals or property.

  • Photos must be original works created by the entrant.
     

Awards and Recognition

Special Recognition

  • The Grand Prize photo will appear on the official Fort Moultrie Site Pass and be prominently displayed at the Fort Moultrie Visitor’s Center with full credit to the photographer.

  • Winning photos will be featured across FCNP and National Park Service (NPS) websites, social media, and press releases.

  • Select entries, including prize-winners, may be exhibited publicly at the Fort Moultrie Visitor’s Center (date TBD).

  • Grand Prize: Fort Moultrie Site Pass (photo must be horizontal)

  • Honorable Mention
     

Rights and Usage

Participants retain full copyright to their submissions while granting FCNP and NPS a royalty-free, non-exclusive right, in perpetuity, to use submitted photographs to support park promotional efforts. Photos may be cropped if necessary but will always be credited where possible. Personal and company data will be protected.

Judging Timeline

  • All submissions will be carefully reviewed by the committee.

 

  • Winners will be announced by November 15, 2025.

 

  • Notifications will be sent via email, with public celebration through FCNP and NPS communication channels.

Important Legal Notices

  • The use of drones is strictly prohibited over National Park properties, including Fort Moultrie.

  • Photographers are responsible for their own admission fees to Fort Moultrie.

  • Photos depicting illegal, unauthorized, or unsafe activities will be disqualified.
